HỘI AN KIẾN SỰ VR AT THE EXHIBITION OF 80 YEAR NATIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS

Over the course of nearly a month, from August 28 to September 15, Click Studio (Duy Tan University) embarked on an extended journey to the capital city of Hanoi with the project Hội An Kiến Sự. We participated in the Exhibition of National Achievements, themed “80-year Journey of Independence – Freedom – Happiness”, held at the Vietnam Exposition Centre (VEC), as one of the exhibitors within the Ministry of Education’s booth.
At this exhibition, Click Studio introduced and offered free-to-play experiences of Hội An Kiến Sự, a VR game in the educational/historical genre. This is a first-person interactive virtual reality experience developed by Click Studio under Duy Tan University. Players use a Meta Quest VR headset to interact with the environment and take part in mini-games, with each play session lasting about 20–30 minutes.
In Hội An Kiến Sự, players take on the role of a time-traveling scientist tasked with returning a 500-year-old jade bracelet to Princess Ngọc Hoa, while also uncovering the unique cultural values of the ancient port town of Hội An during its golden age.
This technological product represents our commitment to cultural preservation through gaming, as it recreates the ancient Hội An with its events, lifestyles, daily activities, and cultural depth from more than 400 years ago—most notably including the historic wedding of Princess Ngọc Hoa and Japanese merchant Araki Sotaro.
From the very first day of opening, the project drew great curiosity and excitement from visitors coming from Hanoi and neighboring provinces. This was a positive signal, proving that Hội An Kiến Sự is capable of leaving a strong first impression at a glance. On peak days, such as the National Day holiday on September 2 and weekends, players had to queue in long lines to experience the game.
Participants came from diverse ages and professions: the youngest were primary school children, while the oldest were veteran soldiers in their 80s. Click Studio was deeply delighted to bring excitement and awe to players as they “stepped” into an ancient Hội An from centuries past. Smiles could be seen on the faces of visitors regardless of age or profession—from children to elderly grandparents, from students to retired soldiers and lecturers. This stands as clear evidence of Hội An Kiến Sự’s success in becoming an educational–entertainment product for all audiences, crossing age and occupational boundaries.
Not only did it bring us joy to see Click Studio’s creation so warmly received, but the visitors also left behind more than 100 sincere and insightful comments. Despite differences in hometown, age, and profession, the majority of players shared the same impression: that Hội An Kiến Sự was wonderful and engaging.
Alongside the compliments, some visitors also provided highly constructive criticisms regarding existing shortcomings in Hội An Kiến Sự. The comments often centered around character models that were not yet precise, somewhat rigid animations, and background characters who merely stood still, diminishing the bustle of a traditional market scene. We greatly value every word of encouragement and constructive criticism, as these form the foundation for Click Studio to continue developing future game chapters about Vietnam’s renowned landmarks with even higher quality.
After 20 days, hundreds of play sessions, and a wealth of feedback, Click Studio has grown stronger from this special exhibition commemorating 80 Years of National Achievements. The event offered an opportunity for Click Studio to showcase the technical capability of Duy Tan University’s game development team through an educational–historical project aimed at preserving and spreading Vietnamese cultural heritage to the world. Every detail—from architectural accuracy to historical authenticity—reflects our dedication to the art of storytelling that carries value for education, culture, and tourism.
